Immerse yourself in romance in the Dallas premiere of Jiří Kylián’s Lieder Eines Fahrenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer). Considered one of his most iconic works, Lieder Eines Fahrenden Gesellen is set to a score by Gustav Mahler and features five duets that explore themes of love, tenderness, and the sorrows of separation. Kylian is an internationally acclaimed choreographer whose work has been performed by major dance companies around the world, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Nederlands Dans Theater, American Ballet Theatre, and Paris Opera Ballet. His numerous awards include the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur from the Académie des Beaux Arts, Paris; Sir Laurence Olivier Award, the Nijinsky Award from the Monaco Dance Forum, among others.
Concerto Six Twenty-Two by Lubovitch delivers joy, beauty, and his signature rich, layered choreography. At the heart of the piece is one of the most famous male duets in the world, created during the AIDS pandemic in 1980s NYC. This iconic and transformative duet is, as Anna Kisselgoff noted, “more about love than lovers,” distinguished by its quiet intensity, tenderness, and unwavering mutual support.
In Bruce Wood’s Piazzolla de Prisa, you will feel the intensity and passion of Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla’s music drive the dancers in a whirlwind of energy and emotion. You’ll be swept into a world where classical technique meets the fiery spirit of Argentine tango. The urgency of each step and the elegant virtuosity of the dancers will leave you breathless.
Experience the heart-pounding journey into human fortitude with Wood’s unforgettable RED. Premiering at Fort Worth’s Bass Hall in 2001, RED tops the list of Wood’s most esteemed and iconic works. Completed just days before September 11, 2001, viewers of its debut drew an immediate correlation between the themes presented in RED and the state of our nation in the days following those tragic events.
